JUDGEnergy offers free take back of like-for-like waste electrical and electronic items, under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive [WEEE Directive].

Since 2006, the WEEE Directive is UK law. The directive aims to make the producers and suppliers of electrical and electronic equipment responsible for the disposal of their waste. Producers and suppliers are compelled to use the collected WEEE waste in an ecologically friendly manner, use ecological disposal or reuse/refurbish it. The regulation means that high street shops and internet providers, like us, must allow consumers to return their WEEE products.

Much of the UK’s WEEE ends up in landfills. The toxins in landfills can produce soil and water contamination, causing much harm to not only the natural habitat and environment, but also to ourselves. By disposing of your WEEE through ecological methods, you are doing your part in preserving our Earth.

JUDGEnergy believes in minimising waste, and fully takes part and supports waste management strategies whose ultimate aim is to reuse, reduce, recycle and rebuy. By doing so, together we can save our natural finite resources, and reduce environmental and health risks for the long term.

Under the WEEE Directive, JUDGEnergy is obligated to offer our customers to take back their electrical and electronic equipment on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new electrical or electronic product from us, and we encourage our customers to do so.

For example, if you bought a new Eco-Kettle from us, we would accept your old kettle, in order to prevent it going into a landfill, and dispose of it safely and in an environmentally friendly manner.

The following conditions apply to take backs:

1.We only take back like-for-like items. For example, old kettle, for new kettle.
2.Customers must return their WEEE within 28 days of purchasing their new electrical or electronic item.
3.Customers who wish to return a WEEE item, will pay for the postage and/or transport costs of the item.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods must be marked with the crossed-out rubbish bin logo, as shown below:

Goods are marked with the above symbol to show that they are produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.
